In most people's mind photography must show reality. And in most situations this statement is true: for example a picture of the finish line will always present the winner of a race. But what happens when the camera is off axis? Winner and loser can be mistaken. By changing their point of view photographers will change the image itself and its message, its meaning.
So why not embrace this approach? Why not encourage the photographer to develop their own intimate and unique perspective? Why not leave reality aside and instead "create" photographs just like painters would use their brush to apply colors on a blank canvas?
Long exposure is a technique that does just that: it transforms reality into something else, into a dialogue between the artist, the subject and viewer. Long exposure is a different approach, one that comes from within and uses what is out there in order to produce unique and breathtaking images. Images that go beyond photography and bridge into the Fine Arts.
In this lecture Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland will present his signature technique, long exposure and will introduce fine art photography as a way to create very personal visions that go well beyond the simple capture of images onto paper.
